BOAC, Marinduque — In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Marinduque State University (MarSU)-College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), through its General Education Elective 2: Gender and Society course, is organizing the second season of the Kalutang Violet Exchange Series every Wednesday of March.
Led by Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) students, the initiative highlights gender-related research conducted from 2016 to 2024 and connects these studies with local organizations that support women’s empowerment, gender studies, and advocacy.
The first session on March 4 featured discussions on the MarSU Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System alongside research presentations including “Causes and Effects of Unexpected Pregnancy among College Students in Marinduque State University by Ysabel Marie Chan, and “Lived Experience of Teenage Mothers in Barangay Dili and Pinggan, Municipality of Gasan” by Kheychel Deano, Rassel Loto, and Jovelene Morong.
On March 11, another set of gender-related research will be presented, including “Possible Factors that Suspected Violators Commit Incest” by Lundag et al. and “Level of Gender Attributes of Male and Female Students of Marinduque State University” by Manubac et al., both conducted by BSSW students from the 2018 and 2019 batches. The session will also spotlight Circulo de Mujeres (Boac Women’s Club), a local organization advocating for women’s welfare.

Fe Canelas, and Bea Moring, as well as “Level of Gender Sensitivity of BS Social Work Students in Selected State Universities and Colleges in Mimaropa Region” by Monteron et al.
